Recycle-Reuse-Relove – 3D Wall Art from empty glass bottles

What do you do with your cute, empty glass bottles of Frappe?  Throw out, recycle or reuse? Just like any other avid DIYer, I  would not dare to throw them out. I’d rather collect them, without any idea about what I would do with them. May be some project, some day, but what? No idea at all.Wall art from empty glass bottlesWhile redecorating our family room in our previous house, I thought of making a large piece of wall art using these empty bottles. Everything  else needed for this project was also available in my studio or workshop. All in all it cost me next to nothing and took less than 3 hours to make this piece of art. Wall art from empty glass bottles

I started with this large empty frame from my big stash of frames. It’s size was about 30″X24″. Wall art from empty glass bottles

This frame had 3/4 inch lip on the back to hold the glass and backing board.Wall art from empty glass bottlesI reinforced the corners with the corner braces, and spray painted the frame black.Wall art from empty glass bottlesNow the fun part. I gathered rest of my supplies; empty glass bottles, colorful gravel, sand, potting soil, fishing line, different colors of spray paint, and masking tape.Wall art from empty glass bottlesI then taped the bottles with the patterned masking tape.Wall art from empty glass bottlesAnd spray painted all the bottles in different colors. I painted 5 bottles in all.Wall art from empty glass bottlesThen I filled the bottles starting with the sand at the bottom, gravel, and potting soil before putting in the fake succulents. I also tied the clear fishing line to the bottle necks. Wall art from empty glass bottlesI marked the back lip in the frame at even spacing and drilled holes to tie the fishing line.Wall art from empty glass bottlesAnd it goes up on the wall. I screwed it to the wall at 4 places.Wall art from empty glass bottlesThis fishing line is almost invisible. It could be seen only from some angles, that too if looked closely.

I still have quite a few of these bottles left. No idea yet, how I will use them.
